Palmetto Racing Technologies only builds winners!

I have to tell you that the pinewood derby is my most favorite thing! In 1998 Oxford Advent Christian Church started having a pinewood derby that was open to everyone as a community outreach. That tradition has continued to 2008. I hesitate to say but I built the Grand Champion car that year, it kind of looked like a cockroach and was aptly dubbed the "Palmetto Bug" by Bobby Walker who called the race. I am very pleased to begin the process of handing down that winning tradition to my boys. In the 2008 race we entered four cars, three in the under seven years old division and one in the fifteen years and up division. I can honestly say that I am very glad that we didn't have cars in all three divisions, I think I might have gotten run out of town on a rail! Daniel's car ended up first in his division with only one loss due to jumping out of the track, and my car won my division with no losses (I think). My car's only loss was to Daniel in the Grand Championship race. All in all we had a blast, we had a great turn out- including Neena and Boppa! I shudder to think about next years race and the impending abuse that awaits me! Here are some pics:

This photo doesn't really do our pinewood derby experience justice... We brought home FOUR trophies!

Another win for "Palmetto Racing Technologies!"

The Passing of a Legend...

Wednesday "Crazy" Eddie Barbato passed away after living with prostate cancer. Eddie was a fantastic drummer and though I only met him a few times he had a profound impact on my life. He taught my friend and former bandmate from "Soundcheck" Kristin Brown the art of the drums, and through her inspires me to be a better drummer.
